Me:

.

I am a woman, if you hadn’t gathered that already, and my name is Sarah Lee.  (Coincidentally, I do not like or eat any Sarah Lee product.)  I am in my early 20s, and I’ve been married to a wonderful guy, Patrick, since I was 18.  Yes, we got married very young, but that hasn’t stopped us from having a great relationship, insane, but great.  We fight pretty frequently, but it’s usually over silly things that I don’t want to be “wrong” about.  I truly feel that being with him makes me a better woman, and I know for a fact that me being with him makes him a better man.

.

I am very stubborn, which gets me in trouble a lot.  I haven’t quite learned how to keep my mouth shut.  I think that’s probably one of the main reasons I started this blog.  I get to type out everything I think, without getting in trouble for it!  (I guess I could get in trouble with my readers, but you know what I’m saying.)  I love expressing my opinions about things, as you’ll discover if you read a few of my posts.  I want people to know that there are others out there in the same boat as them.  I hope that sharing some of my life with you can help you realize that.

.

The greatest happiness in my life is my son.  He was born in May of 2009, and he has been such a blessing to me.  He is slowly teaching me how to be a good mother, but I know it’s going to take some work.  I’m just like all the other first moms out there, and I definitely feel lost a lot of the time.  But, my son’s smile always brings me back.

You’re probably wondering why this site is called “Consider Eden”.  (Or, maybe you’re not, but I’ll explain anyway.  :)   My husband and I went through a period of time in the early stages of our relationship that was full of…well, let’s just say we were not very kind to our bodies, our spiritual lives, or our finances.  A combination of junk food, marijuana, and stress sent me to the hospital with a stomach ulcer, and poor financial decisions left us at the mercy of good friends. Our youthful health was trashed, our money was non-existent, and, in short, we came to a point in our lives where we had to make a change if we wanted our relationship with each other to endure, and our lives to be enjoyable again. Before this we never gave a second thought about what we ate.  We just put in our stomach what our taste buds wanted, and it was all good.   But, as I began researching ways to help my acid reflux and heal my ulcers, evidence seemed to keep pointing more and more towards one place….Eden.  God wasn’t just messing around when he created our bodies, and the planet they depend upon.  He did not just throw it out there, and let it decide how it wanted to work.  He created our bodies to work a certain way, with a certain type of fuel. (It was not simply that the facts were pointing to this, but what we began to do worked, and when we would occasionally eat what we used to we would feel the consequences.  I understand that things like the climate, plants, and our bodies are not the same as they used to be, but “different” can in no way change the principles that God spoke into existence, spiritual or physical.)

.

Anyway, the name came to me one night while I was thinking about Adam and Eve.  I was imagining how I could be more like they probably were.  You know, happy, healthy, energetic, etc… I know that the root of all their happiness was a close relationship with God, (and believe me, the first step we took in fixing our health and our relationship with each other was beginning to trust God with our lives again) but if our bodies have the same blueprint as theirs did, then it only makes sense that thinking about how they may have done things (aside from disobeying God) would give us a better idea of how God intended for things to work.  So, for the past few years, before doing things (most of the time), Patrick and I… Consider Eden.

.

Am I a believer in God?  Yes, as you have probably already concluded, I am.  I believe that there is one true God, and that He created the universe, and all who live in it.  He sent his Son, Jesus, to die on a cross and pay the penalty for our sins, so that we might live with him in eternity, if we so choose.  God is my only source of strength, and I love Him with all my heart, as my Father.

.

Now, does that mean that a non-christian cannot benefit from this site?  Most certainly not.  People of all backgrounds and beliefs can profit from returning to our roots.  Regardless of how you think the human race came to reside on this planet, you still know that some of the first humans must have lived better than most of us live today.  Our society is plagued with cancer, heart problems, and an innumerable amount of other dis-eases.  This is surely not the way things used to be.

I am very opinionated, and sometimes I can let my tongue, or in this case, my fingers, get away from me.  If anything I say offends you, PLEASE let me know.  That is not my intention.  My intention is to find better better ways to do things, ways that make sense. If any of these ways do not make sense to you PLEASE argue your point in the form of a comment.  Also, if you do not believe in God, or you simply do not believe in the God that I believe in, you must not let this keep you from commenting.  I can’t tell you how much I would appreciate healthy discussions on this site.

Oh, it’s a bummer you’re not in Austin. I bet you’d like it here. There are lots of ‘granola/earthy’ types. ;)

Thanks for the offer to ask questions… I’m sure I’ll be taking you up on that over the upcoming months. Should I contact you here, or is there a place where I can send you messages that don’t get posted publicly?

And yes, if you’re ever in the Austin area (or I’m near Dallas) we should meet up. Until then, I’ll keep reading the blog and asking you, well, ‘how do you do it?’ :)

And thanks for the friendly reply. I really appreciate it!

What a sweet comment! Makes me sad that I don’t live in Austin! I’m actually in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. To tell you the truth, I’d love to hang out with some like minded mommas, but I’ve yet to find very many. :( Apparently, I’m a bit of a weirdo- haha.

That’s so excititing that you’re pregnant. I miss it. But, thankfully, I have a wonderful baby boy here with me, so I can’t miss it for long. :)

Feel free to ask me any questions! I’d love to be able to help you!

Oh, if I’m ever in Austin, or visa versa, we should get in touch!

    Hey there Sarah,
I just stumbled onto your blog and have been addicted for the past few hours reading about your birth, co-sleeping, cloth diapers, etc. Thank you for all the great info and for being so honest and candid. I’m currently pregnant (10 weeks, with my first) and planning a homebirth and your blog/website has given me hours of entertainment and tons of great information. I noticed that you were in Texas, but I’m not sure if you mentioned what city. I’m in Austin and were just wondering if you were too (I have so many questions!)? My husband and I don’t have family nearby so it’d be great to be able to meet more ‘like-minded’ mamas.

Thanks again! You’re doing a great job!

Wow, I bet you’re really busy! Are those two your only babies? How do you like the age difference? I’m curious because I want my first two to be about 4 years apart. Where are you located, by the way?

  6. Dawn says:

Just a reader! A precocious 5 year old, plus a new baby and new house in the same year keep me plenty busy right now. There’s no place to read about my life, but we can get together by the swing sets!!

  7. admin says:

Awesome! I’m always extremely excited to meet people with similar lifestyles (and different too, but you know what I mean). So glad you’re here! I’d love to hear more about your life! Are you a blogger, or just a “blog reader?” :)

Thansk for all the sweet comments- I appreciate it!

Hi! Glad I found your blog! I’m a Messianic homeschooling EC-ing AP non-vaxing cloth diapering home-birthing co-sleeping fairly crunchy suburban mom. :) ) I think we have a lot in common. My second was born in April of ‘09. Nice to meet you!

  9. Normally i don’t respond to a post like this, but since i really liked it I just had to give you a thumbs up :)

  10. admin says:

Thank you, Kate! I think it was God inspired, haha. :)

  11. Your honesty is refreshing, and I love the back story for your blog title. God bless!
