Ahh, it’s been a great weekend.  We were able to eat raw all day yesterday, thanks to green smoothies, until about 8pm.  We did close to the same today.  I’ve had so much more mental clarity than I usually do, and it has really opened my eyes even more towards raw foods.

.

Since Patrick and I had somewhat of a raw food revelation, we decided that our eating habits needed an overhaul.  We decided that we are going to drink a green smoothie everyday for brunch (after our morning breakfast of fruit).  Also, we are soon going to purchase some raw almonds online.  When we get those in, we hope to have the following daily routine, excluding Tuesdays and Thursday because Patrick cannot get a break to have a smoothie at work.  (That’s if Axel does okay with the raw almonds, as we just discovered that cooked nuts don’t work for him.)

.

  • 6am : Wake up – eat 2 pieces of fruit within a half hour
  • 9am : Drink green smoothie
  • 11am : Eat a few soaked seeds, or some avocado
  • 1-2 pm : Eat a handful of soaked almonds
  • 4 pm : Snack on carrots or celery
  • 6 pm : Eat potato soup, or beans, rice, and vegetables

.

This is actually what my routine will be, but Patrick will most likely have to eat some oatmeal, cereal, or potatoes during the day for added calories.  If we are able to find inexpensive fruit to eat this summer, he may be able to stay raw all day then, too.

.

Speaking of the summer, we have been daydreaming about mangoes, strawberries, and watermelon a lot lately.  Oh my goodness, I can almost taste them.  Last summer was a bust when it came to fruit, so we’re hoping that things will be different this year.

Here is what each of us ate yesterday AND today.  It looks like a lot but the flavor is so good that you just cannot stop eating them.  We each had two large smoothies per day.  No wonder my brain was clear- I went through 4 heads of lettuce all by myself!

This made 2 large (and delicious!) green smoothies

Looking at the picture makes me want more!  Seriously, I’m starting to crave green smoothies like mad, and the same is true for Patrick.  Our bodies are getting used to having all the nutrients available, and they seem to be quite pleased about it!

.

This past Thursday, Patrick was not able to get off of work to come home for a smoothie, so we did without.  Apparently, that wasn’t a good idea because Patrick said that his mind could not process anything correctly.  His body desperately wanted and needed a green smoothie, and it showed.  I’m curious to see how our “off” days go this upcoming week.  (No smoothies on Tuesdays and Thursdays)

.
Like I’ve said before, please try these green smoothies!  They really give you an energy buzz, especially if you drink two in one day.  :)
.
*By the way, this new green smoothie habit of ours is quite expensive, especially since we use organic produce.  (It costs $6-7 for two large smoothies, to be exact.)  If you multiply that cost by 20 (5 days per week), you end up with a $130 cost at the end of the month.  In other words, we really have to strap down with the other foods that we purchase if we are going to make this work.  The effort is definitely worth it, though, because we feel better, and we can actually SHARE them with Axel.  He loves them.
.

Please excuse the way I speak in the video below. I’m pretty sure I say “like,” like 20 times.

If you have a juicer, juice an some carrots and apple, blend that with frozen bananas, then add as much romaine as you want. IT’S SO GOOD!
